Introduce yourself!
Hi lovely! I'm Loretta but everyone calls me Lori. I'm a Dominican Afro-Latina living in NYC. I'm a photographer who loves to capture all the "little things" that sets my soul on fire.
How do you express yourself creatively?
I'm always shooting through my phone or camera's eyes! Photos are the way I remember things and they help me express all the words I'm at loss for most of the time.
Describe an insecurity that you had while growing up. Has your perspective changed? If so, how did you overcome this insecurity?
I hated how skinny I was. I saw so many of my other Latina friends with curves and I envied them. It came to a point where I would wear double jeans to make myself look curvier (I was clearly crazy, haha). Eventually, puberty hit me and now my weight fluctuates all the time. In getting to know myself better, I learned to love myself, whether gut or no gut, and embraced the skin God put me in.
Define Beauty
Beauty is so much more than meets the eye. It's embracing who God made me to be, and by embracing that reality, I glow from the inside-out. Beauty is being the best version of you, unafraid and unapologetically, with confidence.
How would you describe your skin-type?
Combination skin!
How do you combat your personal skincare problems?
I make sure to moisturize every day and night!
What are some of your skincare beauty secrets?
I CANNOT go without my Pinkness Co. Flawless Beauty oil. It gives me such a natural glow and got rid of a lot of my dark spots. Most days it's all I wear along with some chapstick. I'm all about that healthy skin glow.
2 do’s for skincare?
Do use sunscreen as frequently as possible, even on cloudy days, and moisturize daily.
2 don’ts for skincare?
Don't ever go to sleep with makeup on and don't scrub your face dry with a towel. Pat, pat, pat!
What motivates you to practice self-care consistently?
What motivates me most is the outcome that self-care brings. Not only do you treat yourself differently, but you also treat those around you so much better when you practice self-care. A lot of it has to do with REST. Rest is NOT laziness and should never be viewed as weakness. Rest is important because when we don't rest, we burn out. When we burn out, we can no longer be a light. STAY LIT.
WUNDER BODY is cruelty free, and we love our pets. If you have a pet, tell us about them! - Pets can also be plants :)
My lovely pet is my baby bamboo plant at work, Frida. She reminds me that growth could look slow, but it's steady!
